Wairimu Mungai draws experience from the development and private sectors. She has over ten years experience in management of a civil society organization and provision of consultancy services to civil society organizations. Prior to this, she worked in marketing of consumer products for fifteen years.

Ms Mungai’s present focus is on capacity development/ empowerment in gender and governance in political participation, training in human rights and HIV/ AIDS, sustainable environment in local development and advocacy and research.

Wairimu Mungai holds and M.B.A degree from Rutgers University, Graduated School of Business Administration, Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A and a Bachelor of Science degree (Summa cum Laude) from Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A. She attended Loreto Convent Limuru for her secondary education.

Her future plans are guided by her vision for her country – a fair and just society for women, men, girls and boys – and her long interaction with the communities at grassroots. She aspires to develop AMKA into a leading gender and development civil society organization (CSO) in the Region.
